I was born in Roma, Italy, on December 17, 1963. I received the "Laurea" degree in
Electronic Engineering in 1989 and the Ph.D. in Systems Engineering in 1994,
both from the University of Roma "La Sapienza". Since February 1996
I am with the Dipartimento di Informatica e Automazione (D.I.A.) of University of
"Roma Tre", as Associate Professor. My teachings are in the field of Automatic Control,
Digital Control and Process Control within the courses of Electronic, Mechanics and Computer
Science, and I am the director of the Automatic Laboratory of the Dipartimento di Informatica
e Automazione.
Research interests
My research interests are in the field of industrial control systems, robotics and sensor fusion.
Several published papers concern the study of iterative learning control applied to robots with elastic elements
and to nonholonomic systems . I contributed to the developing of the Robotics Laboratory, and I am author of
several experimental papers involving mobile and industrial robots.
In particular, in the area of mobile robots, some attention has been given to the problem of navigation
in structured and unstructured environments with a special attention to the problem of sensor based navigation
and sensor fusion. Many techniques derived from Fuzzy Logic, Bayesian Estimation (Kalman Filltering) and
Dempster-Shafer theory have been developed and applied to the problem of mapping building and vision based localisation.
